My friend, Prof. Thomas Irvine shared this to me. He said, "Spare a thought for Taiwan, people. Academic colleagues: would OUR students have the guts?"
My reply,
In Taiwan, I feel proud of the students. Some go out and some work hard. Whe⋯⋯never my colleagues tell me that they feel students nowadays are not as good as those in the good old days. I tell them,." First of all, you guys haven't found a good way to teach them. Second, you guys haven't found a way to tell how good they are. Third, if you cannot count on them, on whom can you count? Our president and our prime minister? Finally, if you still don't understand these at all, you don't deserve to being a teacher. "
